At an event earlier this week at NYU's Wagner School, Mayor Bloomberg outlined his new initiatives to help support nonprofit organizations in New York City. These include helping nonprofits control fixed costs (energy consumption and technology, for example), improving the city's contracting procedures to speed payments, providing technical assistance through a partnership with Community Resource Exchange, and creating Greater NY, a program that will pair business executives with nonprofit executive directors in one-on-one partnerships.
Read a detailed description of the initiative in the Mayor's press release and access a video of the presentation.
Visit the Mayor's NYC Nonprofit Assistance for additional resources, including technical assistance tools and services, Frequently Asked Questions, information about getting access to credit, and quick links to city agencies.

It's unfortunate that executive directors of small non -profit organizations are excluded from this partnership program. We need this kind of assistance the most because we have much less resources.
